History & Successes

James and Amy have over sixty combined years of experience owning, managing, leading and helping service businesses. For over 30 years James has facilitated over 1,000 days of sales training, multiple strategic business planning sessions and worked onsite with service trades contractors from $3 million in revenue to over $500 million in revenue. Amy and James have trained, coached and mentored hundreds of salespeople, managers and leaders in service businesses. The Service Business Resources curriculum and support documents (over 200) have been written and modified to reflect the changes in marketing, sales, management and leadership over a twenty-two year span.

Meet Our Team

Amy Graening

Amy has been an owner of two successful service businesses over a 35 year period, serving the printing industry and homecare industry. Over the last dozen years, she has received many franchise awards for growth and profitability with Comfort Keepers (Medina, Ohio). Amy was educated at St. Mary’s College, South Bend Indiana and has a bachelor’s degree in education. She has worked as a teacher, instructor, public speaker and owned and managed service businesses. She has a vast amount of experience and training in leadership, management, business accounting practices, customer service and team building. She currently serves as SBR’s business leader and facilitator of training classes on Leadership & Management, Business Management and offers both onsite and remote coaching and mentoring for business owners. She has served as a volunteer for many faith-based organizations and currently serves as VP and treasurer for Right to Life of Northeast Ohio. She resides in the Greater Akron Ohio area and enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

James Graening

James has been a leader in sales and marketing, a corporate vice president and a sales training facilitator for over thirty-five years. Educated at the University of Akron for HR, Employee Relations and Psychology, James has worked as a salesperson, sales manager, general manager, and corporate VP of sales with a background in Energy Services, as well as a trainer and educator for several trade organizations including the ACCA, PHCC, HRAI (Canada), Honeywell, Service Experts, EAI Excellence Alliance and Comfort Systems USA. He has developed a vast amount of curriculum for trades contractors and is a published author. He currently is partnered with SBR and facilitates training classes on Sales, Marketing, Sales & Marketing Management and Strategic Business Planning. He offers onsite “private” training and is in his fourteenth year as a “remote coach” for service businesses, as well as, providing sales mentoring in the field on occasion. James has been a volunteer for several faith-based organizations, including Alive Festival, is a musician and worship team participant and serves on the Board of Right To Life of Northeast Ohio. He resides in the greater Akron Ohio area and enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Derek Hollins

Derek Hollins, over the last 30+ years, has been an entrepreneur, dedicated employee (Shell Oil Company) and U.S. military member with the Untied States Air Force working as an Environmental Support Specialist. Derek’s extensive background and experience in serving his country, serving his customers, and managing businesses positions him as an experienced project management and business operations leader and instructor. Both of his service businesses (Photography and Building Services) allowed Derek to work with such well-known companies as Starbucks, Winn Dixie, Domino’s Pizza, Big Lots and more. Derek has designed and facilitated project management and operational excellence training and is currently the facilitator for Effective Project Management and participates in evaluating contracting businesses to ensure operational excellence. He also offers onsite “private” training and is available as a “remote coach” for service businesses, as well as providing mentoring in the field on occasion. He resides in Louisiana with his wife of 44 years and volunteers as a facilities advisor for education entities.
